Stainless steel is a general term for steel resistant to the corrosion of weak corrosive media such as air, steam and water and chemical corrosive media such as acid, alkali and salt. Because of its advantages of high strength, low cost and good corrosion resistance, it is widely used in automatic instruments and level measurement products such as level switches and level meters. Argon arc welding of stainless steel refers to a welding method formed by melting base metal (stainless steel) and filler wire (stainless steel welding wire) under argon protection. Among them, the selection of stainless steel welding wire is very critical for stainless steel argon arc welding. So, what principles should be paid attention to when selecting stainless steel argon arc welding wire?

Generally speaking, the selection principle of stainless steel welding wire shall be comprehensively considered according to the type of stainless steel to be welded, quality requirements of welding parts, welding construction conditions (plate thickness, groove shape, welding position, welding conditions, etc.), cost, etc. The specific points are as follows:

Select according to the steel type of the welded structure
1. For low-alloy high-strength steel, the welding wire meeting the requirements of mechanical properties is mainly selected according to the principle of “equal strength matching”.
2. For heat-resistant steel and weather resistant steel, the consistency or similarity of chemical composition between weld metal and base metal is mainly considered to meet the requirements of heat resistance and corrosion resistance.

Select according to the quality requirements (especially impact toughness) of the welded parts
This principle is related to the welding conditions, groove shape, shielding gas mixing ratio and other process conditions. On the premise of ensuring the performance of the welding interface, select the welding materials that can achieve the maximum welding efficiency and reduce the welding cost.

Select by welding position
The diameter of the welding wire used and the current value of the welding machine shall be determined. The welding wire brand suitable for the welding position and current shall be selected according to the plate thickness of the parts to be welded, and with reference to the product introduction and use experience of various manufacturers.

As stainless steel welding wire is the same as stainless steel, it has different brands, and the diameter of the same brand is also different.
